Hey, guys. I m an international students and I am going to study at University College London (UCL). Have you ever heard of the college?
Although I m gonna study in the UK, I would like to get a job in America. So i just wondered what level of schools in the USA are considered to be the same leve as UCL.

UCL is one of England's top 5 universities. I would say Cambrige and Oxford are the top two, closely followed by LSE, UCL, Imprerial, Edinburgh and one or two other universities. I was personally given offers from UCL, LSE, Bath and Bristol and UCL was my first choice. For some reason, I liked it more than LSE when I visited. I ended up going to the states for my studies, but UCL definitely impressed me.

If I were to compare UCL to a US university, I would compare it to Johns Hopkins University.

UCL is a very good school, no question about it. And it has good reputation, so I wouldn't worry about finding a job in the US after graduation.

UCL is a great university that is relatively unknown in the United States. It may be comparable to Berkeley academically, but it has no where near the same prestige as Berkeley in the US. This is important as some employers, depending on your field, will be unaware of its quality. If you're looking for employment in the US, know that the most highly regarded universitites are Oxford, Cambridge, St Andrews and the LSE.

St. Anderws is highly regarded??? I also recieved an offer from them but most of British guys recommend me to choose UCL.

What are you planning to study?

Here is the latest ranking of British universities:

UCL is ranked fifth behind Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and St. Andrews.

Here's a more accurate ranking, in my opinion.

No wonder. How many people would rather be in St Andrews than London?

I plan to study Economics and it is ture that UCL is usually considered to be top5 Uni in the UK

Hey, Joshua. As far as I know UCL is almost always in top5........ and for economics Warwick is not better than UCL. If you look at the previous years Times ranking, you will see that.

Yeah.....you may right but...... people in The Student Room said their condition for offers from UCL is AAA and most of guys there (regardless of whetehr recieved offer from UCL or not) suggested me to choose UCL not Warwick..... anyway this is not the issue I want to talk about. i just want to know Warwick and UCL can be compared to which level of universities in the US.

UCL's equivalent to the US is Berkeley (minus Haas and Berkeley's top-notch engineering program).

Considering that Berkeley is one of the three best schools in the country, I think that reflects rather well on UCL. ;)

Just for curiosity, what would be the US equivalent to LSE?
Thank you.

i dont know what an equivalent for LSE would be, but lets just say that all employers at top companies know LSE. One of the best schools in the world for economics and political sciences for sure.
