University College Program

Just got my acceptance packet today. In my admittance letter:

“In addition to this offer of admission, you will soon receive an invitation to join our University College Program, a unique and challenging first year academic experience that combines classroom learning with residence life and exciting opportunities for supervised fied work in D.C. The University College Program pulls together, into a seminar experience, the best of AU–experiential learning, small seminar classes, close contact with professors, and an opportunity to live with those with whom you learn. Be on the lookout for more information about this unique program.”

1.) Did everyone get this offer and then certain people just choose it? Or is it something special that I got offered? (And why did I get it? :stuck_out_tongue: Leadership?)
2.) Does anyone have any more information about it?
3.) Since is says I have the “opportunity to live with those with whom you learn” does that mean I should hold off on housing?

Any more information would be great. Thanks

My letter didn't say anything like that, only about the honor's program

maybe it's connected to your major? I have never heard anything about it!

My daughter's friend is currently a freshman in that program. It's only offered to certain students, I don't know how they are chosen, but the girl we know had very high stats, was expecting honors but got this instead.
Basically, it's a learning community. You take certain classes with the same group of students and you live on the same floor. You learn, live and socialize together. My daughter's friend loves it and couldn't be happier. My daughter visited her back in Oct, stayed in the dorm and said it seemed like they knew each other forever, and they were only there a little over a month.
That's all I know, hope it helps.
Good luck to you!

icz_skaycho: i got the same thing!

I got the same thing too it sounds great! If you all live together, does that mean u have to be in a certain dorm or that theres one in each and they just put u on a floor in the dorm?

Got into the University College Program.

now I'm sad I didn't get it, lol. I did get the nice presidential scholarship though, so I'll just pretend I never heard of this program.

Is this program coed by any chance?

lol^^^ wondering the same thing. Sounds like it though.

and btw, get any swag with your acceptance package? keychains shirts?

urm no just a nicely decorated envelope...

Yes it is coed, I'm not sure if it's only one dorm or not, but they all live on the same floor.

^^^ I hope I get the opportunity.

I got this too! I'm excited.

For people that got this, what are your stats?

2070 new, 1350 old
670,690,760 SATIIs
student gov't, editor of school newspaper, editor of litmag, work part time

I have similar stats as you(slightly higher SAT), so I will probably get one of these. I also got the 15k scholarship.

got the college program aswell, sadly i cant attend au, congrats to u all!!

I also got the University College Program. I'm wondering if it's related to our majors? I'm into the school of foreign affairs for Political Science, so maybe that has something to do with it?

If anyone has any more info about it, it would be great if you could share!

I heard its for a percentage of people who didnt get the honors program but almost did.

I was really curious, and I found this article whih explains the program a bit. It sounds very impressive, and I'm seriously considering American if Fin Aid is good. Hope this helps!
