Did anyone else get accepted into the University College program? I know it’s not the honors program, but is it basically a mini-honors program for the next level of students down, or is everyone given the opportunity to join it?

Yeah I go into it too. In the letter it said we would get contacted with more information about it soon.

On the AU website it seems like everyone that has been accepted is able to apply to the University College. In the letter of admission it seemed like they selected me for it, like a kind of honors program.

Does anyone know which is the case?

I am a current sophmore at American Univesity and was a part of the University College program during my freshman year. University College is not an honors program. In fact, you cannot do it if you are in the honors program because both have a living componenet.

University College is a one year long (though they may have changed it to just a semester) living-learning opporunity. Basically you pick one class out of the 8 or 10 offered and live with the people in that class and an upperclassman program associate. other than the class twice a week on wednesdays you take fieldtrips all over the city to places that correspond to your coursework. I would definitely reccomend the UC- it is a great way to be introduced to DC and you have the benefit of the program associate and a close relationship with a professor right off the bat. Also, since you take all of the rest of your classes seperate from your UC and live on a floor with other non-UC students it is not as isolating as it may seem at first.

Everyone not accepted to the Honors program has the option of being in University College.
