University Course search

Does anyone know of any colleges/universities in the United States or Canada that offer courses teaching the Eskimo and/or Inuit language (the Alaskan native language)?

Stanford does not explicitly offer that language, but they have the Special Language Program, where you can request languages not taught, and (given a compelling reason) they’ll find an instructor. Yale has a similar program, though they tend to be one-on-one “language partners” (i.e. for conversation).

This is about the best you can hope for, I think, unless a college routinely offers Inuit. But that’s not likely.

University of Alaska-Fairbanks

Actually what I meant was , besides the University of Alaska. This is mainly because Alaska is too far for me (I live in New York), however, I would love to learn Inuit or Eskimo language.

Try these, though I don’t know how you expect to learn it if you’re not somewhere where it’s spoken.

U Manitoba
NATV 1290 - Introductory Inuktitut
(Formerly 032.129) A practical course in conversational Inuktitut focusing on basic grammatical structures, everyday vocabulary, and using syllabics. This course is offered as part of the Pangnirtung Summer Travel/Study Program. Prerequisite: written consent of department head.

Are there any (possibly) in the continental United States?

I am simply looking for courses in Eskimo and/or Inuit and not a major. Also, does anyone know where you could find out this information (is there a special database)?
