1) Is it true that the University Credit Union has several ATM machines in different parts of the UCLA campus?
2) If you are a customer of the University Credit Union what did you like and what did you not like about their service?

I don't know how many ATM machines they have in the campus but my D used their ATM a lot with no service charge and we are not UCU customers but we belong to another CU and CU have a shared network.

theres a UCU ATM in ackerman (and a branch), north campus student center, de neve and hedrick. theres probably more that i left out.

i never really understood the appeal when you have things like WaMu free checking available, with a much much more extensive branch and ATM network.

^ I agree.

UCU seemed to have multiple ATMs across campus, other financial institutions that had ATMs on the campus had at most one on campus. I am really interested in the opinon of UCLA students. Would this be an important consideration for an incoming freshmen or would there be other more critical considerations in selecting a financial institution to bank with for a freshman?

to me, its not really that big of a deal how many ATMs are on campus. pretty much anywhere on campus and westwood you can pay with debit/credit cards so as long as your bank account gives you a check card its really all you need.

and for the times you really need cash for whatever reason, you're sure to pass by ackerman several times a day, where they have WaMu, BofA, Wells Fargo ATMs.

but for times when you're away from campus, you'll have a much better chance of finding an ATM or branch of a big bank than a UCU or other credit union ATM.

personally, i rarely use cash and therefore rarely need an ATM. i usually charge everything on my credit card, and then pay it off completely every month to pad my credit history.
