University Fellows Worthwhile for Engineering Majors?

My son has been invited to apply. He has not yet applied for Honors, but will get his essay in soon. As I look at the UF program, it doesn’t look all that valuable for Engineering majors; am I wrong? The application is due by 12/15. How much work is it?

I’m sure that this has been previously discussed, so a link would be fine. Thanks.

I don’t think major (engineering or otherwise) has anything to do with it. Is your son passionate about community service? If not, it probably is not the right program for him.

University Fellows is irrespective of major. The emphasis is on servant leadership focused on the community. It requires a class each semester, and the students have widely diversified majors, although many are double majors, pre-health and engineering majors.
