<p>I just got my financial aid package. Is "University Grant" a loan? I know that a grant is money given to me, but I was pretty sure I wasn't going to recieve a grant.</p>

<p>Thats what I would normally assume, but I missed the merit scholarship deadline... if you're right, my pants are going to fly off in excitement...</p>

<p>grants are need-based, not merit-based. so you're still eligible, no matter which deadline you applied for.</p>
