Which university is better University of Illinois, Chicago or Northeastern University? Please also give me a few details about botth of them. I have been admitted to both of them, and have to decide between the two. I will be studying civil engineering. Thank you.

Better in what way?

There are a few details on those college websites, right? Once you have viewed them, you can better ask specific questions I will say that every time Northeastern is mentioned here people remark about the coop program. So make sure you understand how that works.

(In future, you will catch more replies with less generic title)

What is the bottom line cost of each school? Is money a factor in your family?

No money is not a matter. I just eant the university to be good have more name all around the world.

Want*

Just to clarify, are you referring to University of Illinois at Chicago or UIUC and University of Chicago? I assume the former as UChicago does not offer engineering.

I am talking about University of Illinois at Chicago.

While neither school has the name recognition of MIT obviously, Northeastern is a diverse residential college and UIC is primarily a local commuter school. Northeastern Engineering is strong and the coop program will open many doors to a career.

So according to you Northeastern is better, but it does have some name too?

In my opinion, Northeastern is a better known business and engineering school than UI-Chicago. What that has to do with whether one or the other is a better fit for you is dubious. International students obsess about reputation. So do high school juniors. But the rest of us know that it’s more important to a) find a school where you will be enabled to excel, and b) work your butt off once you get there. However, even if you don’t find a), you can still do b). Work very hard wherever you go, and then work harder every year after that.

Thank you so much jkeil911, and yes maybe beacuase i am an international student. I am obsessed about reputation.

UIC is a commuter school with a low graduation rate and fairly large classes. It’s cheaper though.
Northeastern is a nationally ranked school, mostly preprofessional. It’s quite expensive.
So look carefully at costs (for international students, UIC may not be “cheap” though
