How difficult is it to get into UNCC’s UHP and Crown Scholars program, and what do you think my chances of getting into both are? I have a 30 ACT, 1990 SAT, 3.8 GPA…
You have about the same stats as my daughter. She was just contacted for an interview (Skype) for the UHP. She will do it after Christmas. By any chance did you get an interview?
No, not yet. When did she submit the app and essay for UHP? I did it pretty late on Dec 1st

Yay I just got an email and scheduled my appointment! Is it mostly just one of those interviews where I ask questions and they answer, or do they ask about my community service and such?

I just had my interview last week too - they told me that their decision should come in the mail by Feb 15th
Did anyone get an email today from the Crown Scholars Program indicating letters would be mailed on Monday, Feb 1?

Thank you so much for the info, hiddenabyss. Still no letter here. I was assuming the letter will tell if student made it into Crown finals. What did your letter say, if you don’t mind me asking. I will update when my daughter’s letter comes.
The Honors letter said that I was accepted and came with a contract I have to sign and return, then they’ll send out more info, but it didn’t say anything about Crown
My daughter got the Crown letter yesterday telling her that she was not chosen to move on to the final interviews. Best of luck to everyone that is still waiting to hear. May all of your dreams come true!

Yup! I’m definitely attending UNCC in the fall for mechanical engineering. I got into a section of the Crown Scholars Program that’ll up my experience over the school years and summer. My highest SAT was a 2010 ( 710 reading, 670 math, 630 writing), my ACT a 30, and my unweighted avg GPA around a 3.8/3.9
As to the program itself - Over the past few years, it seems they’ve really started to upgrade the school - a lot of the engineering department’s either new or renovated, and it has its own location on campus. If you haven’t visited, I’d definitely recommend touring the campus and engineering department; the labs are pretty nice and the school has good internships for engineering students in the city (plus they’re building a light rail train directly from the campus to the city).
