I got my letter in the mail last week and screamed violently in the middle of the street. A nearby cop ran over hahahahahaha :) but I was wondering who else on CC got accepted/might be going!

Even though I'm from Texas the massive financial aid makes it better than UT for me, lol. The U went from bein a backup school to one of my top choices :DDD

oh come on guys I can’t have possibly been the only person on CC that got accepted lol

i was, too. however, minnesota is not an option for me if the theatre major doesn’t work out, so we’ll see!

congrats!

I got into honors as well, but I don’t believe I’ll be attending. It was odd because I got my scholarship letter BEFORE the honors decision- oh well. Minnesota is a good school, since you are from Texas, have you visited, etceterae?

I got in. I doubt I’ll actually attend, though.

@mondaysun: when did you get accepted and when did you receive scholarship info?

I really can’t remember the specific date I was accepted, I believe it was at the very beginning of December? Or maybe late November. (I applied all of the way back in September.) I recieved scholarship info about 3 weeks later.

Could those OOS that got $$$ for merit please post your stats. No need to list all the EC’s just if you have them and if they included leadership or a start up factor. Thanks

rank = top 6% out of class of 1400, extremely competitive public high school
NMSF 2240
SAT 2310
ACT 34
A lot of leadership stuff (not like president of worthless sit around clubs, but things like JROTC and teaching communication skills)
lots of state/national piano awards
published 2 books

lots of other stuff but those are the ones I’m most fond of? lol

I’m hoping to visit, I really like how friendly everybody seems to be. The school is like a backup college right now, but it’s a hella awesome one so I honestly don’t mind one bit, I’d actually look forward to going. :)

I am beginning to see a trend: merit $$ and National Merit Finalists in addition to high ACT/SAT. Do you all agree?? My s has high stats but just missed NMF, so no $$. Could it really be all that simple a formula?? I guess since they do not require an essay and the app was very simple compared to other higher tier schools…stats are all that counted here. Opinions welcomed…

There are specific scholarships for NMF… that’s what mine was. so it would make sense this pattern is observed. Also there are specific scholarships for OOS and ones they prefer to give OOS anyways. I found the Minnesota cutoff is even a little high for NMSF making this process slightly unfair for residents. I’m from Wisconsin, and I made my state’s cutoff with points to spare but would barely have made Minnesota’s.

We are OOS. Son did not make NMF, but did get In-state tuition with a 34 ACT and 3.5UW GPA.

Lucky u…my s had 33 ACT with 4.0 uw and 4.3 w (10 AP’s and all honors classes) and he is 11/630. Guess that ACT/SAT is their magic number. He wants to go to U of Mich anyway. Good luck to your s??

I don’t remember whether I made it or not, to be honest.
I’m pretty sure I did not, though. 3.91GPA UW, 35 ACT…
I’ll look in my college letters folder and see if maybe I did, though.
