Hello everyone, I am Josh Davis and will be a Resident Advisor (RA) starting this upcoming Fall not sure exactly which residence hall yet (long story) but will find out by Monday, February 4. Next year will be my 2nd year at State and I am younger than most of the other RAs. I basically wanted to start a thread and first ask where will everyone be staying (or applying to stay if still in process) for the upcoming school year?

Also, I was wondering what are some of the expectations or concerns that you all may have for your housing experience here at State, and what are some suggestions for creative programs that RAs such as myself can do to help ease that transition?

Congrats to all of the new members of the Pack!

Hey y'all... I will be an RA in one of the Quad buildings in the University Honors Village. Anyone else like to share where they will be (or hopefully be) staying?

Ddog, Owen is for freshman enrolling in the First Year College program. You will be enrolling in CHASS, right? If so then I don't believe you would be eligible for Owen. You might be interested in one of the Tri-Towers (right beside Owen).

I think that there are only a few residence halls that are for certain groups e.g. owen FYC, Alexander Foreign Students, Turlington Arts, and then the others like Lee, Sullivan, Bragaw are for anyone.

wolfpack12 is right. I would also stay away from Wood and Avent Ferry (Don't be lured in by the "bathroom attached to every room" in Avent Ferry. It used to be a hotel) if possible. They are a long way from classroom buildings.

gonavy2008, My S lived on Central Campus freshman year and loved it there since it was "central" to everything. Some of the dorms have restrictions (First Year College, International, Arts, etc). The tri-towers (Bowen, Carroll,Metcalf) are available to anyone. They are suite style dorms. You might want to check and see if any of the dorms house an engineering community where other freshman engineering students would be living.
reNROTC: Is he a good runner? If not, start practicing now, lol.

just checked...no special living/learning community for engineers...so it's your choice.

Have you visited NCSU and seen the dorm locations?

I was admitted to the College of Engineering for the fall of 2009. So is it true that Tucker and Owen are only for First Year College Students? What are some other options for freshman?
