University Minor in Legal Studies and History

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with, is currently enrolled in, or is thinking about joining the Legal Studies and History Minor offered by the CAS History Department and Wharton. If anyone has any information on this or tips on the best classes, professors, or the strengths and weaknesses of the program, please share them.

As a history major and potential law school applicant, this program struck me as a good primer to legal studies/law school and an opportunity to experience a bit of what Wharton has to offer.

Thanks.

The legal studies minor is supposed to be great. People LOVE lgst courses. I know tons of non-Wharton people who take lgst classes.

A lot of pre-law people are History majors, as well, and they’re happy. With History, I believe you have to choose a concentration within the department; ie. American History.

Hope this helps.

The only problem with that minor I found is that it’s got pretty rigid requirements. You MUST take LGST101, HIST168, HIST169 and something else… I just didn’t feel like taking the history courses I was supposed to take so I wound up not finishing that minor. That said, if you find all of the courses interesting, it could be a really great way to get a well rounded minor.

Also Miller is the way to go for LGST101. I really liked Radin for LGST210 (to the point that I took her again for LGST220/820) as well. :)

do not take lgst101-301 with Mayer.
