Is this normal? I honestly have no recollection of submitting one when I first filed my FAFSA before starting (over the summer). It also says they need to sign and submit it to the office of financial aid.
Obviously I’m going to print it out and submit it, I’m just wondering if this means they found something suspicious or something (like maybe we put in the info wrong). I just don’t want to risk losing my FA is all I’m saying.
@brantly Is it beneficial to turn it in sooner rather than later? My parents live kinda far away and they’re overseas currently until Feb. 15. Will I miss out on FA for turning it in closer to March or April?
Sooner is better, but I actually sent mine in past the deadline this past year and still received a considerable amount of aid. As long as you are before the deadline, I don’t think it really matters in terms of how much money you will get - I think it’s pretty evenly distributed. But in the event that you submit things after the deadline, they still have aid available - by then it’s first come, first served.
Call the financial aid office with your question. They’ll give you an answer as to whether a couple weeks could effect your aid. I doubt it will. Yes, most everyone is needing to do this, so it’s not weird. If you want to be on the safe side and get this done ASAP, your parents can get online and print it right from the IRS site, sign it and pop it in the mail to the financial aid office. No biggie. They might also be able to print a copy, sign it, and fax it.
