I read an article one CC’er posted with top ten theater schools and Uof A was on there for BA’s, which is what my D is looking for. There is a BA in MT and the academics are excellent. Anyone attend/child attend, audition for etc or know anything else about it?
We live close and it’s a great program. Successful alums (most recently Nick Burroughs - graduated & went straight to Kinky Boots!). Campus is beautiful. Very traditional college experience - big football school/Greek system. PM me if you have specific questions. Happy to help if I can.
@MTmom2017 Thanks! I will think of lots of questions I am sure! For now I guess a concern would be how many kids are in the program bc at such a large school I would wonder how many are auditioning for shows? I want my D to have a shot at performing. I will look at their site to see if I can find answers on faculty etc…
My D didn’t want to do the traditional thing and go there with half of her graduating class. Afraid of 13th grade. If this program was anywhere else she would be going. I think it is a fabulous MT education. Raphael Crystal is the director (Ball State). She will have a good shot at performing, they take 15 a year. But, like any top rated program competition for good parts is fierce.
@winnieroot That praise is great to hear, especially since you are a local. 15 is a great number, knowing kids in the theater dept will also be auditioning creeps it up but that’s still good! I want to add it to our list for sure. <y husband thinks its too far, but its not further than other schools w are looking at.
I didnt realize we know a girl who just finished freshman year there and Loves it! Not for MT but still is very happy.
We visited Bama in the fall and the kids we took love the campus! Raphe was welcoming and helpful and we know several kids from our area who were accepted and will be attending this coming fall. They are all very talented! Bama most certainly goes on my daughter’s audition list…
@crc500 Great Thanks!! I t will be on our list too!
