Hi guys! I was looking through the different scholarship levels on the University of Alabama website, and I was a little confused about something. It is my understanding that most of the merit scholarships are guaranteed for certain gpa and test scores. Is the presidential elite merit scholarship also guaranteed, or is it competitive? I saw that the requirements for the presidential elite are a 4.0 gpa and either a 36 act or a 1600 sat. Does University of Alabama look at weighted gpa or unweighted gpa, and if they look at the weighted do they just go with what your school calculates or do they recalculate it themself? Also for the 36 act will they superscore? I would love it if someone could answer these questions for me!
Also I know this does not have to do with scholarships but if you have the required stats (30 act and 3.5 gpa) will you be guaranteed to be admitted into the honors college?
Alabama does not superscore.
Presidential Elite is guaranteed, not competitive. I know they use weighted GPA for their other merit scholarships, so I’d assume they use weighted for Pres Elite.
And the honors college is automatic if you meet the criteria and complete the application for it.
@flatKansas wow that’s great news! Thanks!
best thing is to call them if you want to know for sure, especially about the Presidential Elite. It may be unweighted.
@kcgirl316 Have you reviewed posts and/or asked your question on the Univ. of Alabama board?

There are many knowledgeable Bama parents on the board, like @mom2collegekids who is the Bama guru.
There is an existing thread discusses presidential elite scholarships

Bama gives great scholarships to qualified students. Good luck!
@kcgirl316 scholarship is guaranteed. If you contact an admissions rep and give them your stats they will tell you if you qualify. S19 was told he qualifies and that they do not except any major changes to the scholarship between this year and next (when he applies.) The GPA can be weighted but it needs to be shown on your transcript. I am fairly sure ACT must be from a single sitting. Congrats and good luck!
