Hey everyone, I’ve been accepted in both University of Alabama and Mississippi State for electrical engineering, and both schools have given me pretty good scholarships. I know a lot about the University of Alabama, but not as much about Mississippi State. I definitely want to rush and feel like I could fit in at either school. I’m really conflicted so I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experiences at either school? I think my biggest concern is that I don’t really know what people do for fun at Mississippi State and I’m concerned that it may be too rural. Also because it’s a lot of in-state kids, I’m concerned that the campus will be dead on the weekends because people will go home (I’m from the midwest). Any insight on either of the schools would be greatly appreciated!
I am by no means an expert on either university, but my understanding is that Mississippi State’s student population is approximately 40% out of state. Now, I would hesitate to say that the majority of that probably comes from Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas, but it it “out of state”. It is more regional in its draw that Alabama likely is. As far as college towns go, Starkville and Tuscaloosa are probably a push. Do you like cow bells?
