University of Alabama

Out of State, but applied past priority deadline (Feb 1). Sort of at the last minute. They use rolling admissions.

Academics:

3.47-ish UW GPA (School doesn't make very easily accessible)
33 ACT (11 Essay)
Will have taken 2 college classes (on campus) by the end of this (senior) year. 9 Credits total.
4APs (School doesn't offer many and some conflicted with college classes timing)
Many Honors and Accelerated Classes

There really is no point putting my ECs in, Alabama didn't ask for them on the application. Same for essays.

Info:
Gender: Male
Race: White
Income: 350k+
Out of State
Intended Major: History (probably will change)

Chance away!!!

With your stats, Alabama is a safety! Lol

If you apply before December 15, and your weighted GPA is 3.5 or over, you will be eligible for a full tuition scholarship.

http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/out_of_state.html

@AlbionGirl- I didn’t apply before Dec 15th (2013). I would be entering fall of 2014. As for my weighted GPA, do they recalculate it, because my high school doesn’t weight.

You’ve got nothing to worry about with that ACT score. I’d look for other schools and consider Alabama a safety if I was you.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1632523-chances-for-uva-cornell-carnegie-mellon-others-will-chance-back.html?new=1

Bump!!!

I would talk to your Guidance Counselor. If he/she can figure out what your weighted grade would be and write it on your transcript that would likely be sufficient. I highly recommend that you spend some time looking at the University of Alabama forum. People there are really friendly and welcoming and you will learn a massive amount.

Here’s a thread to give you an idea of the caliber of students applying. Bama has a lot of great opportunities for high stats kids like yourself.

<a href=“What schools did your child pass on in order to attend Alabama - #16 by mom2collegekids - University of Alabama - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-alabama/1549857-what-schools-did-your-child-pass-on-in-order-to-attend-alabama-p2.html

If you post on the University of Alabama forum mom2collegekids will probably come to your rescue with some contact information as to who you might ask to see if you could still get the scholarship.

Good luck!

UA has to be firm on the automatic scholarship picture, but you can contact honors college personnel regarding honors college admission and the status of admission (past priority). There may still be some other scholarships available, but it sounds like you are seeking admission first Mandalorian

I know of others who missed the automatic scholarship deadline.

@SOSConcern- I’m not interested in the Honors College. The price is dirt cheap, so I’m not really worried about scholarships, it would be nice, but isn’t strictly necessary.

Its a low match. You could get into Honors College too
chance me- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1632659-chance-above-average-student.html?new=1

Honors College gives course selection priority, imp at any school. You do not need to complete Honors, but it is not difficult to finish and students often hang in with HC for the class scheduling priority.
