I am trying to decide between these two schools. Which one will be more with it?
Go to the one that’s in-state. There’s no reason to pay double/triple the cost of tuition for a bachelors degree. You’ll thank me later
@coolguy40 I am a transfer student who just saved thousands by going to community college for the past 2 years
That is fine, but are you a resident of either state ?
I am not a resident of either state @Publisher
Then it depends upon what you intend to study.
Why did you apply to these two places? What appealed to you about them?
How much will each cost you?
What is your major, and what do you know about the departments?
What will your transportation costs be?
Do you have winter clothing for WVU?
I have been accepted to both places for the geology major. The outdoorsy aspect and rich social scene has attracted me to both places. WVU 24/y. U of A 34/y. I live in Chicago so winter shouldn’t be too different. @happymomof1
WVU. Use the 40k in savings to visit as many other rocky places as you can during your college years.
Have you visited both? Which geology dept seems stronger or emphasizes the area of geology you’re interested in?
Since you’re outdoorsy, does the Appalachian environment appeal more, or the desert? BTW, Morgantown is sports-crazy, if that appeals to you (or not). If all things are roughly the same, saving 40,000 is nothing to sneeze over!
The difference in cost for OP’s two years is $20,000–not $40,000–since OP has completed two years at community college.
Oh, yes, thanks for pointing that out, @Publisher.
Have you visited WVU? It’s more of a pain to reach than U of A, which is closer to a commercial airport.
Arizona is a top geology program, but a friend’s daughter chose VWU due to the better scholarships and is happy so far.
Yes, you would probably have to get transportation from Pittsburgh airport ( one hour drive). And though you’re used to snow, winter driving in those mountains is a whole different thing (I lived in Chicagoland for awhile, and though I’m not in Morgantown, I’m in the general region and traveled a good bit in/around Morgantown.) PM me if you have questions about the city…I know some things but not all
