University of British Columbia Chance Me?

Hi! I'm an Asian Californian resident who is going to apply to UBC: Vancouver. I attend one of the top 5 high schools in my city. I'm number 14 out of a graduating class of 364. I have taken 10 AP courses. I have a 4.66 weighted GPA and a 3.91 unweighted GPA. My SAT score is a 1750 and my ACT is a 27. My SAT II for Bio E is 670 and Math II is 600. I'm heavily involved with my school clinic and I've done community-wide presentations on reversing trends with teen pregnancy and STD/STI rates. I attend district-wide meetings to better shape the health education curriculum. I proposed an idea to the Board of Education to teach health education in elementary and middle school levels and had it passed. I am considered "impoverished" according to the BLS and I am part of two programs called Summer Search and Wellness Academy. I also do other extracurriculars, but I won't bore you with details.

I was wondering if any of you guys out there who are familiar with Canadian universities can give me an approximate chance of me getting into UBC. Please give me reasons to why you think I can/cannot get in and don't just say, "It's impossible, oh my gawww." I want to be a Psychology Major while I'm over there. I will chance anyone back who chances me(: Thank you!

Canadian schools provide little or no financial aid to Americans. Do you have a plan as to how you would pay for UBC?

Well I’m applying for international scholarships as well. It’s not my first choice school, but I thought it’d be a nice school to apply to since it fits my college criteria. If some miracle bestows me and I get enough financial aid to go international, then I might take up on it, but if not, then I’m staying in America. How are my chances, though?

I am from Vancouver. I’m not sure exactly HOW they take your US GPA and translate it into the Canadian system (for me they just take my percentages because we don’t calculate GPA in Canada) but anything over 90% average you should be almost guaranteed acceptance if your supplemental answers are good. UBC will not look at your SAT, and probably won’t take your AP’s into consideration when determining if you are academically capable up to the UBC standard (AKA they won’t take a ‘weighted GPA’) but you look like you will be fine anyways. The most important factor is your marks - Canadian schools aren’t like American ones, and unless you really screw up your essays/activities you should be almost guaranteed to get in with strong marks. SO OVERALL: Yes, I would say you will be accepted to UBC.
