University of British Columbia

Hey,

I'm a junior in highschool (US) and I've been looking into some colleges. Vancouver sounds like an awesome place for me because it's a big city but also right by the ocean and mountains (I live in CO and really don't want to give up skiing). I was wondering just how good of a school UBC is. I have the stats that could get me into NYU, possibly Cornell and Columbia, but location is a big thing to me. At the same time, I don't want to sell myself short...

I live in B.C. UBC has a great Campus and very safe by US standards. However
If you are planning on doing grad work or moving back to the US , UBC wont carry the same weight or open the same doors as Cornell or Columbia in my opinion. If I can get a full ride to UBC, I`d still go to COLumbia or Cornell. Figure out what is important to you and good luck

Do you think it's on the same level as NYU?

No. It's not on the same level as NYU. It's more like CU Boulder (which is great for a public school and that's exaclty what UBC is- a public school.) If you're in Colorado why not go CU Boulder or Colorado College (you probably want to go out of state right...) But if you do want to go to Canada UBC is a good public school!
