University of British Columbia?

accepted at UBC...

congratulations sp...thats great news...

thanks....well i really dont plan on attending. Waiting for a year and applying to princeton...u know my plan :p

i know...but its still good to be acknowledged..,

UBC is a great school, however i was always under the impression that it was easy to gain admission i have 3 friends from school allof whom had a SAT of 1000-11000 and low Gpas one had a 2.7, all got in.

yeah same from my school. I really feel that I deserve better. well anyway...I got the presidential entrance scholarshio ($4K)...so if i dont stay home during my gap year, il just go to UBC

its easier for international students to get in, thats why, but 2.7/1000 is quite low in my opinion.

UBC is one of the toughest schools to gain admission for canadians. in terms of incoming high school student grade averages:

2003 queens mcgill ubc
2004 mcgil queens ubc

i
m really curious as to why it
s easeir for intel`s to get in?

sorry my mistake

2002 Montreal, Queens, UBC, McGill, Toronto
2003 McGill, Queens, Montreal, UBC, Toronto

canadian schools want diversity and tuition from the international students, thats why its relatively easier.

Guess what I just found out today:

"Based on a review of your interim grades, you do not qualify for admission."

Goddamn it!

Wow, that's odd. Your stats were better than mine. Hm.

Anyway...anyone else going to UBC this fall? Or am I the only one?

Well, at least Simon Fraser accepted me...for the time being, that is.

I'll probably transfer to UBC for my sophomore year. I wonder if you're planning to stay there for the full four years, wolfstarslasher?

going ubc this fall.. international.

yah, I am from Vancouver, UBC is great! but a bit competitive, and i think it's really easy to apply for scholarships in here, not sure though..

prethumous: I plan to graduate from UBC, which will probably only take me 3 years, since I have enough AP credit to make up a whole year. I don't know if they'll let me do that, but I'm going to try :).

melon: i think you're considered for all scholarships automatically, which makes it easy. Though some your school has to nominate you for.

are there any other intels who will be attending ubc this fall?

stats:
used gce a and o level results to get in: aab + a2, 7a's, 1b
sat 1: m720/v690
sat 2: 790/740/750

i just want to revive this thread because i just applied to UBC...
im a canadian/US dual citizenship, but i put canadian on the app to make it easier....
but i was wondering if any one has any feedback from their few months there?
and will i make it in?
GPA: UW-3.4~3.5
SAT m740/cr740/w670
sat 2: m2c 670 english lit 670

Not quite.

The campus IS within the city proper, but is admittedly situated on a secluded peninsula a dozen or so kilometres away from the city centre. (If mapquest.ca can be trusted.)

As for buses: there's #4 to Powell, #17 to Downtown, and the speedy (i.e. Express) #99 to Broadway/Commercial Drive, to name only the most prominent.

Did anyone check the min. req. for engineering application at UBC? Its quite high!

2 full year of physics
2 full year of chemistry
