The UC has A-G subject requirements I don't satisfy the requirement because Im missing one year of Lab Science. Should I just forget about UC completely (even the lesser campuses such as Santa Barbara and Irvine)? Or should I just apply and see what happens (I read that they sometimes make exceptions)? Has anyone gotten in without satisfying the full A-G requirement?

You must have only one year of science.

This isnt just a UC thing. Most schools are going to require at least 2 years, many 3 and many recomend 4.

Can you get into a science class spring term ?

if you don’t meet the a-g requirements, you can be admitted by testing alone:

[Admission by exam | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/examination/index.html)

The “exceptions” are for the kids of heads-of-state and other luminaries, not to mention recruited athletes.

If you check out their website, they do say every campus has a few slots for kids who don’t make the requirements due to homeschooling or other situations. Like another poster mentioned, 2 years minimum is a standard even at the CSU schools.

Another option is to take a lab science at the community college next semester. 1 semester equals a whole year and there are several options from biology and chemistry to oceanography and physical anthropology. Just make sure they are UC transferable and they will count.

Are you sure you don’t have a 2nd year? Maybe you aren’t counting a science you don’t realize qualifies as a lab science? That is unusual. Most High Schools require at least biology and physics and both those are considered labs.
