    Rationale: This question seeks to give students the opportunity to share important aspects of their schooling or their lives - such as their personal circumstances, family experiences and opportunities that were or were not available at their school or college - that may have not been sufficiently addressed elsewhere in the application.

<h2>-Is there anyhing you would like us to know about you or your academic record that you have not had the opportunity to describe elsewhere in the application?</h2>

■■■ am I supposed to write about. I’m from an upper-middle class family and I attend a private all-girls Catholic high school in California. I don’t have any real hardships or struggles, parents are happily married, we are financially stable, I’ve had all the opportunities I want, etc. I’m under the impression that to get accepted to really competitive California public unversities because of the budget cuts and smarter Californians overall, one has to have lots of hardships and extraordinary accomplishments. My close friend and I are wondering what do we put for that. I’m sure that will be a 200 word one but I still have no clue what to write! Haha “Dear UC, I’m not poor and I don’t have any hardships so you should accept me…”

What do y’all think?

<p>But the question did not ask you about hardships in your life, it asked you if you had anything to add. I'm sure it's not a mandatory essay, usually if it asks you "is there anything blah blahblah" you have the opportunity to leave it blank and that would be an answer of "no".</p>

<p>uc gives you 3 mandatory essays but you can pick which one you want to be 600 words and which 2 you want to be 200 words.</p>

<p>the point of the open ended question is to write about what would make you look good.</p>

<p>Hmm... in that case, talk about any classes that you've had that has greatly inspired or influenced you. Here, you get to explain away any D's on your transcript. It's a pretty open-ended question, you can approach from any number of ways.</p>

<p>It doesn't have to be negative; talk about some positive things about yourself taht you didn't have a chance to explain before</p>

<p>UC's don't emphasize the essays as much as say, private schools. And you don't need a sob story to get admitted. Try thinking of a quality or aspect of your life or of yourself that you would like the reader to know about.</p>
