University of California Irvine + other UCs

I want to go to a UC, and Irvine is the one that I want to go to the most. I'm an Asian male who lives in SoCal if that matters.

My SAT Reasoning was 1910 total; 680 CR, 670 M, 560W
I took two SAT Subject tests; 780 in Math II, 760 in US History.

My GPA is about 3.80. It might actually be higher, I wont be sure for a week though.

APUSH score = 5
APCALC AB score = 5

I don't really do any extracurricular activities or clubs. I do volunteer at a senior citizen care center but won't have that many hours. Probably 50 by the time I apply.

What are my chances at UCI? What about some other UCs like San Diego, Riverside, Santa Cruz, and Davis?

Thanks for the help.

After looking at a few other chance threads, here is some more info that may or may not be helpful

Lower income - 20k-30k
I play guitar... but I suck
I live in Claremont, CA ... a college town.

Hey is your GPA weighted or unweighted because that will change your chances alot. Your SAT II scores are strong, but you could work on your SAT score just a little bit more. Your EC's are really really weak, but that's okay since UC's don't care too much about EC's. I can't realyl give you a chance unless clarify your GPA

I'm pretty sure the GPA is the "UC" GPA..

Riverside and Santa Cruz should be safeties. You're a match maybe a slight reach at UCI and Davis.

slight reaches? nah i say irvine and davis are safeties but san diego may be a SLIGHT reach

So when I was a freshman I got suspended for doing drugs. I had like a 2.9 GPA freshman year. My GPA has had an upward trend since then; I got a 4.0 junior year unweighted. Could that have any effect on my chances? I mean, improvement = good right?

bump asdfasdfasdf

yes improvement is good, and I'm sure you can raise that SAT writing score... it is the easiest section to improve on.

I'd say you are a match for UCI/Davis.

Should I retake the SAT? A higher score would obviously help, but I really don't like tests like the SAT and I don't want to retake if I don't need to. Would it look bad if I had a chance to improve my score, but didn't? Would the UCs care about that or even notice? What happens if my score goes down... I mean I feel like I lucked out big time on the Math and CR part of it. The reason I got a 560 on the writing was because of the multiple choice. I got a 10 on the essay. I seriously just hate the SAT.

retake the SAT if you can. even if you did worse, they will look at your highest scores. Have you gotten a book on improving writing MC?

I'd say Irvine is a perfect match for you. San Diego is high match. Heck, I'd try UCLA too. Maybe forget like UCR and try UCLA so the application price would be the same. Im pretty sure ull get in at least one of the three, UCI UCSD or UCD.

I have not gotten a book for the writing part of the SAT. I used the Gruber book and the writing part of it sucked badly. What is a good book for writing?

Anyways thanks for all the replies everyone. It's been pretty helpful.

Well if anyone is going to ever read this again I better update. I applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSC, UCD and UCR. I got into all of them except UCLA and UCSD.

Going to UCI

:P

Good chance at Irvine and Davis. Should easily be into SC and R. SD is a reach.

Great job. Good luck at UCI!

Congratulations!
