University of California

Hi all,
I'm currently a senior who will apply for an undergraduate program in the system of University of California (including UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, UC Davis, etc). The majors that I am interested in are marine science, marine biology and biotechnology. Can anyone give me a suggestion for some of the UCs that are strong about these majors? Right now I am considering to apply to UCSD because I hear many people say that it is auspicious in biotechnology.
Moreover, if anyone can suggest any schools that are good at marine science, marine biology or biotechnology and are glad to share with me, I will be very appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely.

Any UC will give you a solid and marketable education. Of those you listed, I’d say UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI in that order. There are more factors than auspiciousness though. You need to be comfortable on campus for 4 years. Each of those campuses will have a very different experience so, think bigger picture than the ‘best’ program.

UCs are also really selective. Be sure you have the stats.

UCSC, UCSB, and Humboldt state all give UGs extendive opportunities for oceanographic research. I’d also recommend looking through the poster Warblersrule’s posts on the subject. He gives very good advice.

Thanks whenhen for your recommendation. Can you please construe for me the part “the poster Warblersrule’s posts on the subject” because I have never heard about that.
