University of Central Florida Gets Med School!

This is great news for the university, the city of Orlando, and the state of Florida in general. Much credit for this move is to be given to the university's strengths in biomedical sciences, modeling and simulation, and optics and photonics.

(Mods: Please feel free to move this thread to a more appropriate area if you so deem. Wasn't sure where to post it.)

This is old news. Well around here in Central Florida where I live. We all knew it would be appoved.

I also live in Florida (NW), and have a kid who attends UCF. We knew that they were hoping it would be approved, but the official word of approval was just publicized earlier today. I believe the decision was rendered last evening, making the news not "so old".

UCF is on the rise isnt it? i remember a few years ago, my brother had very bad things to say about it (still does!) but that might just be because he's a Gator. How is it?

sahaider,
I am extremely impressed with UCF. We made several visits prior to my D settling on attending there, sometimes during planned events, other times out of the blue. The campus is beautiful! Each time we visited we were always well received and found the faculty and administrators we interacted with to be very approachable and thorough with the questions we put to them. The university has some very impressive programs and points of pride, and my student is very challenged and couldn't be happier. It is now the 2nd largest university in the state, I'm told. We are very pleased.
