University of Chicago EA

Hi, My gpa is really low- 87, 91.5 weighted. I had a really hard time in freshmand year, but I got a 92 in junior year. My test scores (act- 33), essays, reccomendations, extracurriculars are all really good. Its just my gpa, which is low do to a bunch of problems I had freshman year, and learning to adjust sophmore year. But I do have an upward trend. I also have had very rigorous courses since freshman year- all honors and aps( I have three 5’s and one 3). Also, I go to a very rigorous and competitive high school.

I think my essays were really good, do they give me some chance, or is my gpa too low, despite the upward trend to A’s and all honors/AP’s.

Thanks

Anyone?

Hello?

It would be a major upset if you got in with that combination of GPA and test scores.

So does that mean a really good essay wont help at all?

It means exactly what @NickFlynn says: if you got in, it would be very surprising. That’s not to say it’s impossible, and of course a good essay will help. He’s merely telling you that the odds are not good.
