Would 60 credits, with a 3.65 gpa, be competive with Chicago? I forgot to add, good ec’s and good rec’s.

I think 3.65 is on the lower range… U of C is one of the best schools in the nation. A more competitive GPA would have helped you out… Not to mention good SAT scores… I’m bummed about having to retake the SATs as my scores from high school aren’t exactly up to par.

anyone else? :P

I’m considering it, just putting it out there

Wow, not that many people.

Hey guys I’m interested in transferring too. Im sure this thread will explode by February/March. So what are your stats??

Anyone know the average accepted GPA for uchic trasnfer?

I’m considering applying too. I want to leave it open until this semester wraps up - it’s been a bit tough on me.

Good luck, anyone who’s taking the leap.

I’m currently a freshman in college, got into a lot of good schools last year but couldn’t afford any of them. I wanted to apply to UChicago but I hesitated because of the amount of application fees I was already paying, which was kind of a dumb reason not to apply. Anyway, here I am, applying for Cinema and Media Studies. I would like to possibly double major in Sociology or Public Policy Studies as well, or minor in Linguistics. We’ll see. :)

As for numbers… 2090 SAT, 31 ACT. Will have Associate’s by the end of this year. No GPA yet because this is my first semester, but probably 3.5+.

i’m so glad i found this thread. uchicago is my dream school. i currently am a freshman at another top 20. i look forward to mingling with you all!

What schools are you guys applying from? Does UChicago really only take transfers form other top 20s?

I’m applying, too. I’m a freshman at a top public university, but Chicago is my absolute dream school. I was wait-listed last year, so hopefully it’ll work out this time!

And I’m probably going to apply to Tufts and Georgetown (since I’m an International Relations major) too.

anyone know what the acceptance rate is? and when do you guys plan on starting the app/ submitting it in its entirety?

I’ve started on a lot of the preliminary parts of the app (filling out the info, starting rough drafts, and doing all the research I can). I’m going to try to get my app in by the beginning of February.

And yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask the admissions office about the acceptance rate. I think it’s less than the regular acceptance rate but I’m not completely sure.

I’m thinking about applying, I absolutely adore UChicago but I don’t really think I have a shot. My HS gpa is pretty low because I had a lot of personal issues so I"m not sure if it’s worth applying or not. But good luck to everyone who is :D

How hard is it to transfer into U of Chicago and switch majors? I want to get in for an easy major then switch to something else. >:)

I’m starting to accrue some more distinguishable extracurricular activities (performing poetry at high schools, entering contests, interning at local newspaper), while simultaneously beginning essays. I have one strong professor recommendation lined up, though I need to forge a meaningful relationship with another teacher to get the other. I’ve only connected with one teacher this semester–ideally I’ll connect with another next semester.

I’d assume the admissions rate for transfers is lower because UChicago has an extremely high retention rate. I think I’m going to apply mid-April.

who is applying for fall 2011 admission? the app is due march 1st, right?? ah, that’s actually kind of soon!! 2 1/2 months!
