Looks like there aren’t that many UChicago transfers applicants this year??

Let’s hope that works in our favor yeah? :D

I am applying for Fall 2011.
International Transfer
I chose “Find x” for my essay (:

Hey I did the interview today, it seemed like it was just a way to give them more info than what was on your application and ask any questions you might have. Mine ended up being just shy of an hour and I think it went pretty well (though I really have no base of comparison as I have never done a college interview before). Gook luck to everyone.

My regional counselor said UChicago typically looks to create a transfer class of roughly 50 students.

This information from Collegeboard supports it:

Transfer Students

* Transfer admission stats for fall term:
o Applied: 675
o Admitted: 97
o Enrolled: 55

Which would create an acceptance rate of roughly 14%, and going with the trend, this term will probably be closer to 10%.

thats low man

Why is it low? I don’t like those odds either, as an applying transfer student.

I decided in early March to apply to UChi, and have my alum interview tomorrow by phone.

Or rather, early February. In any case, I did my app in less than a month. Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!

I’m a current UChicago student and also a transfer student. I applied to transfer last year, was accepted and now I’m here. If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability. My friend and I, also a transfer student at UChicago, made a Facebook group for the new incoming transfer students. Hopefully you can find it on Facebook: 'University of Chicago Fall 2011 Transfers". We’re also going to talk to the admissions office to see if they can expand their transfer resources.

So yeah, I hope you’ll join the group! Hopefully we’ll be able to help you as well.

Yes. What were your stats like? Would you like to read my essay? haha

I’d be more than happy to read your essay. Send me a FB message or email. My stats, on the other hand, I’d rather keep private. My friend and I are thinking about asking the admissions office to have a prospective transfer overnight in mid-May, after decisions come out. More info to come. But yeah, send me your essays.

Although I am not applying to UChicago this year, chunkychild, I think it is awesome what you are doing! Thanks for being a great help during a stressful time for everyone.

@chunkychild, did you have interview? Do you think that particularly helps? Thank you~

Thank you Kev! I’m just trying to help out.

Yes, I did have an interview. As to whether it helped or not, I’m not entirely sure. I do know that I really enjoyed my interview/interviewer and I learned a lot about the UofC culture and the Hyde Park community. It can’t hurt if you don’t have one. It helps in that it connects you to the UofC. I recommend doing it.

^Thank you for your advice!

So they are still missing one of my recs…

Ace – don’t worry. One of mine is showing up as missing as well.

I’m not worrying. I just wanted to bump the thread LOL

Ok so I’m guessing they are processing our applications since all our, well at least my, documents on the tracking disappeared?
