University of Chicago Fall 2011 Transfer

@monkeyking

Why is that? I’m just curious.

Sent from my Vortex using CC App

Waitlisted.

Apparently completing the entire undergraduate math curriculum before turning 18 and being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as a sophomore isn’t good enough for UChicago. At least I know the school I’m at right now wants me.

Time to roll with the punches, I suppose. Good luck to everyone and congrats Mind Gravity!

Rejected haha
wow so many rejections!

Dude this is the YEAR of rejections! Almost every university has rejected so many ****ing people! OMG~!

@goingforanoble - Yeah…I did really want it. It’s so unfair =/ I loved that university, I desperately wanted to go there! And, my dog got run over today and he died. How worse can life get!

Guys, as difficult as this may be for some of us, I think we should let it go. There’s no point in letting our rejection fester inside of us.

and I’m sorry to hear about your dog cordova. :/

@goingforanobel - I know it’s sad =/ This is so unfair!!!

Do you know if you can apply to transfer a second time? I’ll be a sophomore next year, so I could still apply for next fall and still have two years at Uchi.

IDK but I’m never applying to UChicago. Reject me once shame on me, reject me twice, GO F U C K yourselves!!!

@cashinapig: yes, you can apply again. I’m finishing up my sophomore year and applied to be a junior. I would go for it if I were you! If you can, ask the admissions committee what areas made them vote to not admit you this year. you seem like a fairly level-headed person. I’m sure things will work out. :)

waitlisted, bleh

Sorry about my outburst…I just needed that. =/

Rejected!

High GPA in community college and a Chapter Officer of Phi Theta Kappa with two international awards. Yeah, I’m OBVIOUSLY not qualified or anything. Idiots.

Hopefully Stanford or UPenn give me a miracle, but at the rate things are going, I will probably lose respect for all transfer admissions processes in these schools.

goingforanobel: awesome, thanks! Do you have any idea who I would contact to find out that information? I really want to attend Uchi, but sometimes I wonder if I’m just not cut of the cloth they’re looking for. TBH, I thought my essays this year were phenomenal, and my stats and all weren’t too far off the mark.

Maybe third time’s the charm :)

Accepted.

For those who want stats:

Female, from NY, competitive high school, waitlisted when I applied for freshman admission
College: UC Berkeley
GPA: 4.0 college / 94.0 high school
SAT: 2270
AP: one 3, three 4’s, four 5’s
Extra currics: HS: captain of swim team, editor on school paper, various creative writing awards, College: reporter for daily school paper, staff editor for lit mag.
Essays: well-written, stressed not wanting to leave Cal because I disliked it, but because it made me understand what I was missing by not being at Chicago – thankful for the year I had at Berkeley, it helped me grow, etc. I also reaffirmed my interest in an email to my regional admissions officer

Message me if you want more specifics. Congrats to those who got in, and apologies to those who didn’t —*I’m sure you’ll be successful regardless in your future endeavors.

Wait-listed. And I got into MIT, which I thought admitted fewer transfers… I guess they’re looking for different things.

ACCEPTED, college gpa 3.95 umaine, sat 2240, high school gpa 2.9… weehee

I’m not sure what I did wrong…I don’t mean to brag, but I took 13 AP Classes in high school, top of my class, 4.0 GPA in a public university with 18 credits BOTH semesters of my freshman year…also I am undocumented, Hispanic, low income, grew up in poverty…like what more do they want? And, I had good recommendations along with decent essays =/
