University of Chicago: Just how crazy is it?

My stats:
3.5ish Unweighted 3.8ish weighted at the end of this year
1820 SAT Scores (1230 m+v)

My extra Curriculars:
President of Young Democrats
Voulenteered for two congressional campaigns (or will have) on a high level
Member of JSA
Journalism (probably going to be an editor next year)
Cross Country/Track
Multiple political summer programs
written an online journal of the 2008 campaign, (and am in the process of writing one for 2010)
probably some more stuff I'm forgetting

I know this would be a HUGE strech, but the question is: could it be worth applying to?
Do I have anything more than a snowballs chance in hell?

Try the ACT.

I’m taking it Next week, but even so is this too big of a strech? (Keep in mind, I’m just doing research, Its not presently on my application list, I’m trying to find som reach schools, if I need them and I won’t be heartbroken if people say yes)

It’s almost always worth it to apply, but you appear to have a very poor chance.

Chicago is out of reach for you.

You can always try though your GPA and SAT are a little low. If you have really strong EC’s and write SPECTACULAR essays then you may get in.
