Hard to compare this year’s SATs with previous years – different stats provided (average vs. median, composite vs. by subject) and a different test. According to this list, Class of 2019 median was 1515 – 5 points above H/P: 10 above Y/M, 30 below CalTech: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1789717-ranking-by-selectivity-for-help-picking-reaches-matches-safeties-p1.html
@IWannaHelp I see you’re promoting NU, it’s a great school but it’s not UChicago.
@IWannaHelp see in which of the subjects you listed #279 NU is ahead of UChicago.
I was asking where the “meteroic rise” (outside of college ranking) that was put in the title of this thread is. Both of you turned it into “NU vs UChicago” to avoid answering the question. I see no reason to stay on this thread. Goodbye!
Meteoric rise was for college ranking and Booth. Happy trails.
@IWannaHelp UChicago was tied up to this most recent USNW ranking in undergraduate Econ as #1.
It is a founding member of the M7 and M5 Super Elite and a single year ranking will not change things. UChicago is first amongst employment surveys.
Undergrads have access directly to Booth through the Trott Business Program and the Financial Markets Program and others as well as ample research opportunities.
Current US News ranking is #7, tied with NU (whether you like to admit or not). If you have a link to undergrad rankings please do so. Kellogg is also a founding member of the M7. Kellogg offers undergrads certificate programs through which they can take classes and receive advising.
Chicago has great resources, but some of its strengths are not just specific to Chicago.
@IWannaHelp better to avoid this echo chamber!
What is the M7 and M7 ? Tks.
When NU people come in and troll the UChicago threads they probably shouldn’t be expecting a warm welcome. Anyway you should be extolling the virtues of NU on your NU forum, might getter a better reception.
Cu123 I do feel you … !!! NU Is a great institution. With growing stature. But is has no global name recognition.
@kimfuge88 I believe I mentioned that along with last years tied at #1 with the other M7 or all tied at #5 depending on how you view it.
This isn’t a Kellog thread - nobody has questioned Kellog. It doesn’t matter which M7 your at, as long as your at an M7 for IB/MA.

@Chrchill M7 are the top 7 US B schools - http://poetsandquants.com/2015/01/05/the-m7-the-super-elite-business-schools-by-the-numbers/
Booth is world class and has been since it was called Chicago School of Economics
USNWR just our has Booth in third place. Columbia B School is slipping in that ranking below Yale.
This thread is not about NU or UChicago vs NU. If you want a topic like that, start your own thread. Dont hijack it
This thread is about how UChicago went from ranking top 6 to top 2/3 in such a short time, and where yield skyrocketed and admissions rate dropped like its hot. (And whether or not this is sustainable, a flash in the pan, or … )
UChicago is no longer just comparing itself to an average neighboring university that is okay sometimes. It is comparing itself to a bigger basket of highly regarded schools, in which NU may or may not be included.
@IWannaHelp you apparently pooped their discussion of how Chicago achieved greatness in such a short time span. Punishable crime!
The echo chamber here is very robust. I’ll leave this board now but I’ve been thoroughly impressed by the emotional maturity and persuasive abilities of folks on this board.
Good thing my view of Chicago folks is tempered by my positive interactions with right-tail Chicago ppl who have more interesting things to say…
@IWannaHelp NU competition with UChicago is akin to the competition between Boston and NY, That competition
exists only in Boston.
Actually I like both UChicago and NU. I would be proud if my kid attended either school
@kimfugee88 dude dont be a troll. There is another thread that is the exact opposite of this thread. Its called " U. of Chicago: Is University Strength Declining?", Join that thread, it may suit you better.
At UChicago fora, you have a lot of options - you can opt in, opt out, be silly, be smart, be overly optimistic and proud, be overly pessimistic and cautious, be whatever you want…
The Free Market of Ideas reigns supreme!
@kimfuge88 take away is, being part of the M7 is in and of itself a prestigious standing - in my opinion, doesn’t matter where you fall on which ranking in any single year.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by.
