University of Chicago vs. Bard College

I'm a rising sophomore (junior credit-wise [71]) at Bard College, and I just found out that I got accepted as a transfer student to the University of Chicago. I'm not really sure whether to stay or transfer. I've been told that since Bard is such a small school, it has very distinct opportunities. A friend of mine is taking a class with Chinua Achebe next year. I have been helping a professor write a book, am the editor-in-chief of a school publication, have been doing tuberculosis research all year, and am on student government. Would it be a waste to give all that up and transfer? I really enjoy Bard, but it does have its limitations.

I'm interested in majoring in comparative literature and Arabic/Middle Eastern studies, and the latter is especially lacking at Bard. My counselor told me that I should definitely go to Chicago for that reason, since they have so many resources pertaining to the Near East, as well as a bona fide comparative literature department. I hope to enter a PhD program in comparative literature after undergrad. My international relations professor, on the other hand, pointed out that there would be lost opportunities at a bigger school.

Soo... opinions?

While I do feel that Uof C is too graduate focused, especially in the sciences, I think you should transfer. Having programs in the things your interested in is the most important factor in selecting a colege.

I hate Chinua Achebe's works.

I would say to transfer considering Chicago's academics.

I would suggest visiting first to make sure you fit with the environment there.
