Anyone know when Chicago lets the Early Alternative applicants know about their decisions?

Mid-April.

does anyone know the average gpa of those students who are accepted as transfer?

UChi is surprisingly close-mouthed about anything transfer. I haven't been able to find /any/ statistics about any transfer admissions -- not how many applicants they receive, how many they accept, whether they have a steady number of acceptees, how many people traditionally enroll, the average GPA -- /nothing/.

Searching the website, credentials listed are those for the previous freshman class (that is, looking for information on transfers leads you to the page of class of '08 freshman statistics).

Weird. I have no idea if I have any chance at this school and just wasted $60 (though I'm sure I did)!

"however, most competitive applicants have grades in the B/B+/A range." - U. Chicago Website

They offered admission to about 25% of transfer applicants last fall according to US News.

Good luck to all of you.

And just in case you are wondering, I didn't apply there.

Another question about the U of C transfer process: When I was in high school, I remember a few schools sent out materials clearly designed to hint to applicants that they had been accepted. They weren't exactly likely letters, but one such example off the top of my head is that Northwestern sent one of my friends a postcard telling her about all of the wonderful opportunities for African Americans, and I can't quite remember details, but it was worded in such a way that clearly meant that she was in. Are there any tell-tale materials for transfer applicants? I'm getting antsy, and being home in Chicago over spring break and visiting the U of C just made me increasingly thirsty to hear from them!
