hi, i'm an international student considering finance and/or engineering at CU Boulder. i know it is not highly ranked, but can anyone tell me about the reputation of the school and the quality of education there? and since it is nowhere near new york or d ivies, plus it is a respected uni at colorado, would the rankings really matter so?

im also concerned about the job prospects, but seeing colorado is a large state, can i safely say that i can get a good job as long as i do well? also, what are the chances that i can continue working at colorado since d company hiring me would then need to help me apply for a work permit and the process might be tedious.

im very interested in bcoming a financial advisor/private banker. im not aware of the major businesses in colorado, are there major banks or financial firms there? also, are there internships available for CU students?

CU's reputation in the southwestern United States (I'm from Texas) is one of an excellent state university. It's not on the level of the Ivies, bot not many are. The business school provides a quality education.

As far as your job prospects, according to Peterson's Competitive Colleges 2007: Top Colleges for Top Students, 668 organizations recruited on campus last year, and 79% of students had job offers within six months of graduation.

No, you can't safely say that you'd be able to get a job in Colorado as a foreign student. If you were a resident, you would have had no problem getting a job there. At some school, international recruiters hire foreign grads to work overseas, some of those companies also have US offices and can transfer you there.

I live in Colorado Springs, about 60 miles south of CU Boulder, and can tell you that it definitely is highly regarded in Colorado and in the Southwest US in general. Many of its programs are top notch, including its business program, and some programs allow students to study at CU Denver, which is right in the heart of the economic center of Colorado.

As far as jobs go, it should be relatively easy to find a job... Colorado is exploding with growth and businesses are opooing up everywhere. While you may have a hard time finding work in Boulder, which is a smaller town to the west of Denver, you could definitely find work in Denver.
