I know a ton of kids that go there and they all love it. I took a tour a little of a week ago and my overall impression was very good. The campus is beautiful and located pretty close to the Pearl Street Mall. As other posters have mentioned, ski areas are very accessible. The closest one is around 45 minutes away.

CU is not as much of a party school as everyone seems to think. Part of the reason it has the reputation of a party school is because a poll was taken and many students reported that they loved to party. The poll was taken just after CU beat CSU in the annual football game. Of course everyone wanted to go party. Also, I'm fairy sure that most big public schools will have parties.

As for pot, yes, about 10,000 people participated in 420. That number is not entirely made up of students. There are still 15,000+ students who don't use pot and make better use of their time.

I did a summer program there and absolutely LOVED it. boulder is a fantastic city (and this is coming from a new yorker, I have high standards :D) with tons of public transportation, a zillion good restaurants, and it is a good school to boot. Definately an underrated school....as for the pot, I saw much more alcohol than pot on campus....off campus is a different story...

Denver isn't nearly as cool as Boulder. Boulder has the small town feel, with lots of cool stuff, even if it is a bit hippyish. I've heard a lot of people complain that CU-B doesn't give out enough money - but several of my friends and peers got some really great scholarship money, so if you're smart, then its a pretty good buy too.

Also - both winners of the Boettcher scholarship(full ride to any school in colorado) from my school in the last two years chose CU-Boulder. If UD was better, then they would have gone there, since they would have had a free ride anyway. (One was doing Aerospace, the other Pre-med, I think)

Of course there are great things about DU too, I just haven't heard about those things very much lately considering that half my friends seem to be off to Boulder

DU is known for being more homogenous and wealthy, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as SMU. For what it's worth, a guy in my English class, last semester, was a transfer from DU.

Outside of hockey, I would definitely pick CU over DU, and Denver is pretty much my favorite place.

Yeah, I'm not sure really if either of those schools are that good of a fit.

Sort of leaning towards a private school in an awesome town with a great social life. Looking to be a political science major (my uncle and aunt both are super high up in DC and can hook me up with an amazing job from the get go)
