Daughter accepted to Stamford campus. Glad she got an acceptance but we will wait to hear from others before committing. Have they ever allowed a student to go to the Storrs campus after they hear back from who is taking the seats?

Congrats to all!!! :tada::tada:

You don’t apply to honors. It’s announced in letter. They assign you

You have to appeal. It rarely works

Did she choose the Stamford campus as one of her options in her application?

In application portal there is an appeal step. She can try this but it is NOT common to work. Many many many kids get branched and request it. Almost no one gets campus switched unless first few years are required to be in Storrs for major.

She did. Now she does not remember if it was her second or first choice. Goodness. But either way we never visited Stamford so I have no idea what the campus looks like.

S23 accepted (OOS engineering) with 23K merit. No mention of Honors. Does Honors matter very much to the student experience at UCONN?

In here! OOS Academic Excellence Merit - anyone know the “tiers” for merit? How do we know if it’s a good offer?

Son in without any merit. OOS so makes it not so much an option…

My D24 got admitted to Waterbury with a guarantee to Storrs in the spring semester. I don’t know details of merit or if there is a GPA requirement. Anyone else heard of this? Is there an option for waitlist to go to Storrs in the fall?
She has no desire to do a semester in Waterbury or is it she has no desire to commute for a semester. This could be a deal breaker.

Is the school affordable? if so, its a good offer.

My daughter applied for nursing 1st choice 2nd psychological sciences. Got in high ranking schools Umich Case Upitt nursing direct but shocked to not get first choice. 1390 SAT, 4.3w gpa, tons of volunteering hrs, … just shocked … not sure what

Look up “spring to Storrs” it’s pretty common. You can try to appeal (in portal) but they RARELY change this. Frankly it’s a better option then being strictly branched to Waterbury. In that case she’d need 54 credits to transfer to Storrs. So if she can hang on for a semester. Unfortunately these days they branch most CT kids

Same here, except fall semester in Hartford. I have never heard of this option.

See my comment. It’s VERY common and actually the best option for branched kids. Hartford is diff than Waterbury too b/c they can still live on Storrs campus and take classes in Hartford. Only requirement 50% of credits at Hartford “Spring to Storrs”

I thought maybe they branch a kid for core classes. Frees up space and then when kids fail out or don’t return, there is space available and these kids “backfill” slots. But this acceptance said guaranteed storrs in the spring (maybe I should verify 2024 or 2025)…which means one semester at Waterbury (per my daughter). otherwise, why one semester at a branch?

One of the issues my daughter had was she didn’t want to start at one location and then leave for another to finish off.

Engineering Major (At least that was guaranteed)
Accepted to “Local” branch with later transfer to Storrs.
GPA 4.24
6 AP classes
captain swim team
Tennis team
Volunteer hours
works part time

Not sure what more they wanted? Makes decision much harder.
