University of Connecticut Class of 2027 Official Thread

They told me “by” not “on” but if UConn is like that they will be getting a lot of calls on March 2 and 3rd ! Hoping they stand by what they say as we all got our applications in by their deadline. This is our last college to hear from and we already have our number one but it would be nice to close this chapter out. 3rd child, over 34 colleges applied to - heard from all on or before the deadline but if UConn is after it will be a first for us.

My older son got his UCONN Decision after March 1 and he auditioned for the BFA in Acting at UCONN Freshman Year and the deadline passed for him again that year too. I had to email the head of the acting department to get his acting decision. Having said that I still think today will be the day.

Good luck to you and yours this year, that must have been so disappointing to have to wait until after the deadline, hopefully UConn won’t disappoint like that again. This is all just a healthy back and forth, please do not read anything else into it.

When did your son find out from the BFA Acting program when he applied? My child has applied to BFA Acting too. Fingers crossed.

It was super stressful for him. He auditioned in December of his Freshman Year at UCONN. March 1 came and went and we got nothing. I emailed everyone I could find on the Acting Department Webpage. Finally on Friday March 5, 2021 at 4 pm my son got his acceptance letter and I got an apology email from the head of the department. It was crazy but everything ended well and he is very happy at UCONN in the BFA in Acting program. UCONN is my younger son’s first choice so we are hoping to have 2 kids there soon. It’s a great school!

34 Applications???

Thank you for sharing that. That must have been a long 5 days. Glad to know that if he doesn’t get anything it could still be good news

For three kids - sorry if that wasn’t clear enough lol - two of them are/were nursing applicants and since nursing is so competitive - because of lack of clinical spaces and shortage of nursing professors, students usually have to cast a wide net because it can be hit or miss of where they get in. I have seen stellar applicants with stats way better than my kids not get into places my kids did so it is really hard to figure it out. So about 11 schools more or less for each child.

23 for 2 kids. My first one applied to 11 schools and the younger one applied to 12. I agree 100%. College Admission Is Crazy!

I think Common App and the Coalition do make it a lot easier to apply with all basic info in one place although for some majors there can be lots of extra writing / or auditions. It still beats my typewriter and white out circa the 1980s and applying to schools back then!

In 1983, I filled all of mine out by hand, with different colored pencils

i applied for 20 schools haha. besides the crazy admission process i used to think it might be harder for international applicants😢

Just FYI nursing and special programs are sometimes released later than general ones.

Thanks - guess we should have expected that - low expectations anyway as we are OOS and not a perfect 1600 SAT!

For what it’s worth. My son said in a group he’s in someone posted it is today…that person said their high school counselor said so. Why a high school counselor knows???

If it comes out today what time should it release by?

Last year it looks like people started reporting admissions around noonish, but I don’t know what time zone that was… and I have already haunted last year’s threads too much already

I just looked and it looked like 3:00 last year.
