Hey guys, I’m going to cut straight to the chase here. I’m a senior in Ohio that’s about to graduate in May and I’m looking for an unbiased opinion on which of the two colleges would serve me the best, UD or GU. I’m interested in a Criminal Justice major and my hope is to attend law school after getting my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice. I’ve always been interested in this field and I’ve talked to counselors, teachers, and researched on the internet. I decided this is the best route for me to take. Now is just a matter of picking a college.
UD Pros:
Cheaper (15000$ per year net cost)
Live at parent’s house
Easy drive (15 minutes from campus)
Easy internship at Wright Patt Air Force Base
Cons:
I don’t like the location of UD
Dislike the student body
I don’t see myself fitting in at all
Not as good as GU in law
GU pros:
I like the the city its in, Spokane.
I like the campus and student body
Live on your own experience (yeah yeah every teenager’s dream, but I honestly feel the earlier I move out and experience paying my own bills, being my own adult, the better. Since eventually everyone has to move out, why not sooner than later. That’s just how I see it.)
Great law school on campus
Cons:
More expensive (21500$ per year net cost)
Far away from family in case anything happens
Losing friends
More tight on money and time since I have to pay all expenses on my own (Insurance, phone bills, food, etc.)
So it’s really just down to these two options for me, and I really need an unbiased opinion. People I know are always leaning towards one side or the other. My parents like UD because it’s local, my teachers say GU is better. My high school’s counselors are basically airheads, I’d ask them something and they would google it, then give me the exact information google gives…which is nothing.
The net costs for the schools are after merit scholarships, university grants, and federal grants. I don’t plan on taking out any loans.
