Distinguished scholars invite is an email. The same email will also be in the portal.
Called around 11am today and the distinguished scholars will not be out today. They will be out next week.
mageecrew, my son is still waiting for the honors program decision. Was your daughter’s email a decision? My son also got the Scholars mailing and I agree, I don’t think it’s related to the Distinguished Scholars.
@chp0304 My daughter’s honors program decision came right in her acceptance letter back in December:
On behalf of the University of Delaware Admissions Committee, it is my pleasure to offer you admission to our class of 2021. I am further pleased to notify you of your selection for admission into our Honors Program.
I hope he hears soon about it!
mageecrew, his acceptance letter said a decision on honors would be made in March.
Concerning merit, my child was accepted the beginning of November and didn’t receive any merit scholarship. We recently submitted the merit scholarship appeal with mid-year grades and a slightly improved ACT score, along with notice of a couple of scholarships she received from other schools, and a few days later she was awarded a scholarship. We didn’t think it would make a difference, but it did, so it can’t hurt to try.
@co2017nj Exactly how does you submit the merit scholarship appeal? Was there a form? Did you send an email? If so, to whom?
Thanks!
Has anyone who received the “we hope to have good news by March 1st” letter actually received any good news yet? Or any news either way? Thanks!
We sent an email to admissions and they responded with this: follow the link below and go to the part of the page that talks about Merit Scholarship. Within that paragraph in blue letters is a link to a scholarship appeal form. You can fill out the form and submit it. Also you should submit your most recent transcript as well.

@lochctelF That’s what I would like to know as well!
@lochctelF Thats my current status as well. I’ve contacted admissions and they said it’s an inital decision on your application and you’ll have your final decision by March 1st. Fingers crossed!!
@co2017nj I can’t find it… all I can see is “SAT Score Converter” in blue, and I know that’s not the one…
It’s in the green section: “Merit Scholarships: The University awards merit scholarships based on a combination of academic and extracurricular achievements. We notify students of scholarship eligibility shortly after they receive their admission offer. If you wish to have your eligibility reviewed, complete a merit scholarship appeal. Note the Scholarship Committee will generally be looking for additional information not considered as part of the original admission application.”
I got accepted! My award updated today and I have received $7,000/year. Did anyone see anything about financial aid?
Accepted!! my stat :

@co2017nj OK … my daughter and I filed the scholly appeal tonight. Submitted mid year grades, notification of other merit, and a couple of comments about her recent visit. Thanks for the direction on this!
I applied in late December and haven’t heard anything back since I was sent a conformation about a week later. Has this happened to anyone else or any advice?
bengie15, it took 9 1/2 weeks for my son to hear anything. Hang in there.
I have a question/need some advice. My first choice major was biomedical engineering, but I got admitted to my second choice major, neuroscience. Is it a good idea to request to switch my admitted major to undeclared engineering and work hard to get into biomedical engineering my second semester?
No problem and good luck!
