Congrats!!! @ccc1013
Did she apply in one of the more competitive majors photowoman? I have been hearing that many programs are becoming much more competitive. We also don’t have all of your daughter’s stats. Don’t be discouraged (although I understand), but perhaps your daughter can demonstrate interest if it is her top choice?
jmom: Engineering is one of the top majors at UD and quite competitive, but as I wrote to photowoman, show interest. Students are taken off the list and accepted all the time as I understand.
@harper8 She applied as a communications interest major with an environmental science 2nd choice. But she really was not set on anything. We were then told by a current student that the communications major is very competitive and that applying University Studies is the better way to go, especially since she really is undecided. So we did change her major to University Studies. They told us it wouldn’t make a difference when we asked at admissions, but that maybe University Studies would be a good option.
As far as her stats… 4.238 gpa, 69/436. National Honor Society, currently 3 ap courses, 1 honors course, 1 regular course. Mid years - distinguished honors. Student council representative, Founder of the local chapter in her school of a national organization etc.
3 letters of recommendation, plus the counselor.
But, yes, her SAT scores were low. Definitely not in line with her grades and academic standing. They were 1010. So, I know that must be the problem, because IMO everything else is great.
Has anyone who got the “March 1st” letter heard anything since then? I know they have told everyone that they will hear by this Friday, but the lack of posting on here is eerie.
Still nothing here… waiting is killing me
@lochctelF
I got the “march 1st” letter and was accepted last Friday night (super late like 11:45pm) so don’t lose hope!
Congrats @ccc1013! That is great news! So there is still hope!
For those of you who have heard from the Honors program - is there a special or different Accepted Students Day for the Honors Program?
I have not heard anything yet either
For people who have been awarded merit money… did you get it in your yellow envelope acceptance or later?
I got the “march 1st” letter and I keep checking my portal everyday and still nothing. Will they email or update the portals first when they make a decision? I’m feeling like it is bad news if I’m waiting this long
@127271 I wouldn’t worry until Saturday. Admissions said by the end of this week… I know it’s difficult but stay patient. I’m guessing a decision will be up soon:)
I got the “march 1st” letter and haven’t heard anything. I just figure that when they said by the end of this week, they must really mean late friday. I still check every day though lol
@chp0304 Yes, there is a separate events for Honors kids.
Does anyone know if the portal updates at certain times of the day or is it just random?
My d also received the “March 1” letter. I called the school yesterday. The person I spoke to said they are very backed up. They now will notify by next Friday March 17th. She advised, that if the portal is not updated by then, to give them a call. Very disappointing!
What is your d’s major? @Motherinnj
Business @cbsi5481
@infinigirly, do you know the date for the honors event yet?
