@Nizzzzy I’m talking about the scholarship award for Distinguished Scholars. My daughter received notice that she was in the honors program right in her acceptance letter…maybe because she applied to it at the same time as the school itself?
@mageecrew Oh! So, they have already started giving the award amounts then. I too was accepted in the Honors and am waiting for the Distinguished Scholars Award. All the best to your daughter.
@Nizzzzy I might be creating more confusion than I mean to, because I am not really familiar with all of the awards and processes associated with them! What I meant was that people have begun receiving emails for a Distinguished Scholar Awards competition weekend in March. From what I understand, if you get invited to that, you will most likely get a large merit scholarship. My daughter received a nice merit scholarship shortly after acceptance, but I am crossing my fingers that she’ll be invited to this Distinguished Scholarship weekend as well.
Is the Distinguished Scholar Award program part of the honors program? In other words, do you have to be in the Honors program to be invited to the Distinguished Scholar Awards Competition?
@photowoman Yeah, pretty much. The Distinguished Scholar Awards are given to the top 100 students who applied, which means they are most likely in the honors program as well.
If I applied for honors but my application is still under review, is it unlikely I could get DiSco? I already received a decent merit scholarship.
@cheerlaxlove I saw your post about your Presidential Scholarship being on your “My Finances Award” page and then going away. Were you able to clarify that it just wasn’t showing up but you still had it? I am asking because last week the financial aid info was posted on my daughter’s “My Finances Award” page and we were disappointed because that is based on financial need only. (we assumed that she wasn’t getting the merit that was listed on her net price calculator) Well today I logged in and there is a Presidential Scholarship for $10,000/yr but the financial aid grant/loan info is gone!? I called the finance office and the representative told me that she definitely was awarded the scholarship and that sometimes they just haven’t “linked up” yet. She said she would look into in and get back to me. Now I’m a nervous wreck and my daughter is thrilled about the scholarship but freaking out and doesn’t want to get too excited until we know for sure that the financial aid grant is still there. It clearly says that Grants are based on financial need and Scholarships are based on academic achievements but I just want to know for sure! They can’t take away the financial aid grant can they? We even received a nice glossy booklet in the mail with all the financial info. I would love to hear if your portal updated correctly with your scholarship info again. Thank you!
Hi! Yes, a day or two later, my scholarship was back in the portal. My mother called the office beforehand and they said they could see the award from their end, and figured it was a glitch but did confirm they could see it. A few days later, it was back up, and I received a letter in the mail confirming the amount
Oh that makes me feel MUCH better! I’m hoping that situation is the same in our case. Congrats on your scholarship as well! =D>
Has anyone received regular acceptance results lately? Still waiting. 8-|
Oh no! Waitlisted! Just received a letter tonight saying my D was placed on the wait list. There wasn’t a choice asking if she wanted to be, just placed on there. It was a hopeful letter though, but still… Ugh.
@127271 Just received the same letter in the portal last night. Only, the “we hope to give you good news date is April 1.” Have you heard anything since?
Does anyone know when the My Housing portal will open to try to meet potential roommates? I put my deposit down two days ago and the I read on the UDel website that after 48 hours the My Housing portal will open. Are you unable to try to meet roommates until March 1st when the housing application opens?
I checked my portal today and my major was gone, so I’m guessing I should be finding out soon and I’m so nervous. I applied end of December and my application was complete on January 6th, so it doesn’t seem like I had to wait too long
Did you get a letter in the mail or through the portal
about being waitlisted?
@kdil923 It was through the portal.
Thank you!
Has anyone who applied mid-January heard back yet??
Did anyone get an email and a letter from UD that says “Dare To Be A Scholar”? I kinda disregarded the email, but when I got it in the mail it was on really nice paper with a huge golden sticker. Does this mean anything significant?
@infinigirly My daughter received both an email (but it was about the honors program) and that Scholars mailing today. We’ve received other things on that Scholars program in the past month. I don’t think it’s connected to the distinguished scholars…
