University of Delaware for computer engineering?

My son was accepted to UD for computer engineering and is trying to decide between UD and Pitt. Delaware is much closer to home, we live in PA so a short hour and a half drive, if that vs. Pitt 4 hour drive. We really know nothing about the program at Delaware. He was given enough scholarship $$ there to bring the cost down to what Pitt will be (no merit money given from Pitt). Can anyone weigh in on the program at UD? Thanks

Hi. Are you concerned about the quality of the program? I can tell you that my son, a CS major and his friend, a CE major will both be working at Google after graduation. His friends were recruited to all of the top tech companies. Sounds to me like UD did a pretty good job!

Thank you. Yes concerned about the quality I guess and also opportunity for internships, co ops etc. Sounds like they did a great job!!! Thanks for replying.

@ahill70 When my S was considering UD for Mech Engineering last year, it was either their CS or computer engineering program (or maybe it was both) that was one of the top in the nation. Even compared to and on par with MIT.

We are visiting on Saturday for an accepted students day. The finances are the issue. He did receive scholarship but at this point it is our most expensive option. The sad part is, we live very close, in Pennsylvania pretty much just over the border. So out of state rates for us.

If money is equal (or close to equal it), and you think both schools are on par with each other, I would go with the closer option. You will all save on travel dollars over the years.
