Hi all! I have been accepted to the pre-vet/animal science programs at Penn State, UMass-Amherst, and UDel. I received scholarships from both UMass and UDel, and I was admitted to the honors program at UDel. I’m still waiting to hear back from the Shreyer Honors College at PSU. I know PSU has a renowned animal science program, but it is more expensive than the other two schools. I’m leaning toward UDel because I loved the campus but I never visited UMass and I don’t know much about the animal science programs at either school. Does anyone know more information about the pre-vet major at Delaware? Are there a lot of hands on experiences with animals and research/internship/study abroad opportunities? I’m really interested in going there but I want to make sure I will have a good shot at getting into veterinary school! Thanks!
I don’t know abt. UDel in particular, but your best route would be to go to the cheapest school with the best honors program. Focus on academics, and take advantage of what additional animal opportunities the school has to offer. However, animal/vet exp. is pretty easy to find in other places through work, summer programs, etc. Just focus on the quality of the faculty, research opportunities, cost, and where you think you’d be happiest.
Thanks so much for your help! @superhappyfun
