Have you considered taking the ACT? I think you might want to. Your combined CR + M is only 920, which is not good enough for the University of Delaware. Try the ACT! Or study really hard for the SAT to improve.
@neuprospect98 Thank you! I have not taken the ACT yet. What would be a “good” ACT score (that would make me appear competitive)? Do some people do a lot better on the ACT than SAT?
The ACT is more straightforward than the SAT, with less “puzzling out” of the questions, however the math is considered to be harder since it includes trig. Also, there is a science section on the ACT that is based on interpreting graphs. I agree that you should increase the SAT or take the ACT for a better chance
You should be good as long as you retake the SAT, and just a tip make sure you add details to your ECs so people can tell what leadership you had or how involved you were and stuff. that would definitely help you. Sell yourself
I’d say you have pretty good chances! Being in-state will help you, as will first generation college status. I agree with the other posters that if you get your SAT up, you will be even more competitive. I would also recommend trying the ACT to see if that test is better for you. Your GPA is really good and the EC’s are pretty solid as well. Your hospital work will also look really good on your app, especially since you intend to go into nursing. Focus on writing an awesome essay and increasing your test scores, and you should have no trouble getting in! Good luck!!
Obviously you’ll have to take the SAT I again and improve upon your scores to about the 1800 range for UDel. Keep in mind that UDel has a direct admission into the School of Nursing, but it’s acceptance rate is only slightly lower than the rest of the school. I see that you have a lot of journalism experience as well… more so than your medical experience. Are you considering doing a dual degree (nursing and journalism track, for example). I know someone that goes to UDel School of Journalism and she thinks it’s great. Regardless, most pre-med and nursing tracks require or highly recommend taking the SAT II Biology E+M Test, so I would highly recommend you take that after you retake your SAT I. Good Luck!
Try to get the SAT up a little bit, and maybe acquire a leadership position (president of club, captain of team, etc) to really help your chances, but even if you don’t you have a good shot especially since you’re in state. Good luck!

Hi!
Foremost, your GPA and course load are quite commendable. You definitely need to bring up the SAT score (the avg for U of D is 1810). Are you considering the Honors Program? Then you’d need an SAT of at least a 2000.
I recommend taking the ACT! Attain at least a 26-27, and you’ll be good. (For the Honors Program-at least 30-31)
Your ECs aren’t necessarily extraordinary, but they are well enough. The internship at the hospital really will add more to your resume, especially as you are pursuing Nursing.
Best of luck and congrats on being the first generation!
Your GPA is great, but as all the previous posters said, you just need to up that standardized test score and you’ll be golden! Figure out if the ACT or SAT is right for you, and get cracking in Sep/Oct. Other than that, I think you will be fine for UDel! Write solid essays and it will be good. Good luck!
