University of Denver Help!

Hey, I've been checking out colleges and University of Denver has really appealed to me. It's private, cool town, nice campus, etc.

Does anyone on here goe there? I'm really interested in it, but I have some questions etc.

Also, what colleges would you compare it to?
I'm looking for a private school, nice campus, pretty girls, and a super fun social life

I say go for it if you really like it.

What colleges would you compare it to? What's your desire plan of study?

If you are looking for pretty girls then don't look at any private technical schools with the word (institute of technology) at all.

I live in Denver, and if your criteria are (1) private school (2) nice campus (3) pretty girls and (4) super fun social life, then it sounds like DU's a good match for you.

What colleges stack up against DU? Hmm.... I'd say that DU is similar to Pepperdine and SMU, although it's not as good as either of those two.

yeah i know...

thanks Paerra haha

oh and I'm looking to be a political science major.
i'm not really worrying that much about my college because my uncle and aunt are both pretty powerful in dc, and can hook me up with a amazing job right off the bat. (i'm not saying I'm going to have a much better job in the longrun, but I'll be starting off somewhere around where an ivy grad would.)

Not as good as SMU or Pepperdine eh?

My son is a rising sophomore at the University of Denver and so far he is very, very happy there. All of his classes have been small, all taught by professors who are very available. The opportunities available to the students are amazing and Denver is a great city to go to school in, always a lot going on culturally and a lot of business opportunities as well.

sounds encouraging boysx3 thanks!

It's a solid school, in my favorite city in the world, although my impression is that it's not worth it without a scholarship.

It's also comparable to Loyola Marymount, USan Francisco, Santa Clara, USan Diego and probably to Loyola Chicago and DePaul.

Is Denver a really cool city actually? I've never been.

I assume there are tons of restaurants and bars, broncos games, and live music

I've been to the majority of the U.S., and Denver is just awesome.

Thats awesome to hear.

I need to go visit, but I've got some questions anyway!
Is there a metro or a good source of public transportation?

Also, are the DU kids generally pretty preppy or what? (just assumed preppy because you compared to SMU)

The public trans in Denver is absolutely fantastic. Yes, I think DU kids are considered preppy.

Thats awesome, is it a train system or buses?

Thanks Alot

I think they have both.

Denver has buses (of course) as well as a new (and, thus, less than impressive) light rail system - it's good enough that it'll get you around Denver/downtown and into some of its suburbs.

I like Denver (and DU's campus) a lot.

Is the campus green and brick?

Theres a huge greek scene there isnt there

Denver is alot more of a city then I was expecting...

For some reason I was thinking some more along the lines of Dallas.

Denver is a very outdoorsy city and it thus a very bike-friendly city. If I were you, I would just bike around.

A lot of DU kids take the "light-rail", which is Denver's excuse for a train system.

It's pretty easy to get around Denver - the metro area isn't that big or spread out.

thanks alot for your input !
