Has anyone done this or know anything about it? www.uofdreams.com
I was looking at the website and it looks really well organized - there is no price on there though until you apply and send them a resume so I'm guessing it's really expensive. Anyone know how much it costs? Looking at it for next summer. Thoughts?

I applied for it and it does seem really well organzied but I don't know if I'd really trust it... they admitted me to the program and then told me the cost and I cant remeber off the top of my head what it wa but it was crazy expensive. I dunno, if youve got a ton of free and you want to do it then apply because there's no commitment just to send an application.

I can't apply yet though because I am a senior in high school - just looking at it for the future.

I applied as all and I'm thinking of doing the program. My friend attended last summer and said it was amazing. They do charge a fee but my friend said it was worth it because it covers basically everything - housing, meals, etc. She said it's a really legit organization, even though the name and the fee make you wonder.

can you ask her how much it was?

Paying for an internship during undergrad? Forget about it.

well, you're paying for summer housing and meals at a university

Do you have to live in there summer housing, because I live about 45 mins away from University of Chicago, and I could catch the train back and forth, this sounds like an excellent oppurtunity looking at the internships they have available, if this is legit this would be my lucky day, because I would love an internship for the summer.

They are committed to forming a community for the 8 weeks, so the all inclusive program is mandatory. The costs are quite high: multiple thousands. Some of the internships are stipended if the company policy is for stipends, but if not, you must arrange for credit from your school.
The costs cover housing, ~10 meals/week, local public transportation pass, seminars, outings.

How much does it cost? $3,000, $4,000 how much, if I arrange for credit will I be able to get some assistance from the government, sense I'm an underprivilidged minority, I might be able to research around and find some financial help , I'd perfer the classes credits, a stipend would be all right I suppose. Then again if I can't get some financial relief I would be able to attend if I'm excepted anyway, with a 3.4 GPA what do you think my chances are anyway?

There are plenty of internships for undergrads that offer generous stipends. I for one would not consider the program, unless it is particularly prestigious.. however, that does not seem to be the case, since it's rather pricey.

its closer too $10,000. A bit pricey in my opinion--especially since you are paying to WORK. If you really want to go to the city, just go yourself and find your own internship (or even volunteer at a company and you still save money!)

Oh wow I had no idea it was that expensive - that's more than a full year at my university!

10,000 dollars for 8 weeks? That doesn't sound right, if thats the case they are more about money, then generally helping students secure internships, and building a name as a great organization.

It's 5999 for Chicago, that pretty expensive, I don't know how I could possibly swing that, is financial aid, or an alternative educational loan an option?

aren't the colleges that you guys are attending supposed to be helping you out with getting internships?? for free??

Got accepted but, not going to pay 6,000. I'm hoping to get accepted into Inroads Inc. An internship at Pfizer would look incredible on my resume.

Dag, I just looked at a list of companies, for which University of Dreams, can place students, and they have Merrill Lynch and AG Edwards, Smith Barney. Oh well, wish I wasn't poor. They don't have any economics assistance whatsoever either. This sucks.
