Hello I am from the United States and interested in attending U of Edinburgh.
I graduated in 2012 and have been traveling and working since and am now ready to attend uni.
I want to attend the college of art. However my SAT scores are just under 1800.. and I dont have high enough AP scores to count.
Do I have any chance on getting in considering I am from the US? VERY INTERESTED!

please help!

Hi! I also graduated in 2012, and applied for Edinburgh my senior year. I ended up getting a conditional acceptance with 5 AP classes (had two 3’s and three 4’s) and an SAT score of 2120 (with subject tests in English Lit and Biology). I applied for Biology, however, and the condition of my acceptance was that I get a 700 on a Chemistry subject test. I never ended up taking it, because I decided to go to school in the US instead.

Anyway, point is, they generally want AP scores that are 4’s or 5’s. A 5 on a test is roughly equivalent to an A on one of their A levels, a 4 = B, 3 = C. I know that when I applied, they wanted at least two APs with grades of at least 4 on them (unless you’ve also taken SAT subject tests & done well on them, but you haven’t indicated anything like that).

Tests are really important in the UK grading system, so if you don’t have any good AP scores, I really hate to tell you that you probably don’t have much of a chance. SAT scores alone won’t cut it, and even at that, your score doesn’t meet their minimum. I’m sorry, I hate to be a downer. :c
