University of FL -- what does "end of day" mean?

My son procrastinated (I think out of being nervous) about submitting his University of Florida admissions application until November 1, 2012. Trust me, Dad and I kept telling him he needed to get it submitted earlier, but there you go.

He got his application submitted by 6:42 PM -- that's the time stamp on the receipt for the admissions fee payment.

His other universities have used 11:59 PM as the deadline for submissions.

So I was very surprised to see that his application is dated as being received November 2! I checked the UF admissions website -- it says
...'completed online application no later than the end of the day to be considered on-time."

Does this mean end of the work day? End of the entire day?

I have been very hands-off with his college application process -- he is 18 years old -- and he has been working with his high school guidance counselor during this process.
Trying NOT to be the helicopter Mom that I was with his older sister, which only proved to annoy her and drive my blood pressure up. Now I wish I had been a Black Hawk Helicopter Mom. Oh well.

In business, when we say EOD we mean end of business day, which could be 5 or until most people leave. For college application I would have thought it would be 11:59pm.

If it was submitted before midnight, he will be fine. This is a common problem people have when they submit at the last minute, where it wasn’t processed until the next day. Call to make sure, but he will be fine.

Right, applications submitted on the 1st download overnight so it shows the 2nd but are still considered “on-time”.

UF uses 5:00 PM as a default for end of day, unless stated otherwise.

If it wasnt stated, unfortunately, it seems like your son is a late applicant. It kinda goes to show not to waste to the last minute.

Hi everybody–I sent a Facebook message to UF Admissions asking about this. They replied within two hours and explained that the November 2 date was when it was uploaded, not received. He made the deadline. Now we wait and see if he makes the cut.
