University of Florida 2025 — Regular Decision

We called UF admissions to update them of NMF status last week, and they said they don’t take that into consideration, that after the application deadline, you can’t update any info

Thanks for sharing. I felt that’s the case based on their email response. Basically, “congratulations to your achievement”, and “you will hear decision on Feb 26”

Most decisions have been made by this time anyway. We will find out on Friday. Good luck!

I thought I saw the answer somewhere, but I can’t find it–does anyone know when any merit awards will be released? The site says March but I didn’t know if anyone had a more specific timeframe. We’re trying to plan potential campus visits but won’t include UF if there is no scholarship, so having a date by which we know for sure S isn’t getting one would help.

Last year, my son received an email about a week after admissions announcements were released telling him to check his portal for a scholarship award.

I’m sorry if this was asked already, do we know what time decisions come out on Friday?

Thanks

Officially 6pm, I forgot to mention that the first report on CC was around 5:20pm last year. So I will be checking after 5pm
Good luck!

Good luck to you also!

Would you mind sharing your son’s stats that won him the award? The talk is UF is very stingy compared to UCF and USF.

As someone who works for a large consulting firm and specializes in recruiting, the Florida schools would be at the bottom of the list. I will caveat that with agreement to what someone mentioned earlier - if your daughter wants to work in Florida, then UF or FSU are great. Florida’s program is good, it’s just not at the same level as Kelley, Fisher, and Wisconsin which are all much more highly regarded nationally; she will generally have more options. Remember that rankings by USNews, not employers.

Would you consider the Payscale rankings more accurate in terms of future jobs?

Last night my daughter said to me “I can’t believe on Friday I’ll know if all my hard work was worth it.” I told her it would be worth it even if she didn’t get in. She completely disagreed. She said if she doesn’t get in she could have gotten B’s and not stressed as much and had a much easier time. Man, I hope we get good news on Friday.

@GulfCoastDad He had a 1480 SAT, 4.0UW/4.55W UF recalculated GPA, 12 APs (all 4s and 5s), Salutatorian, lots of extracurriculars and awards, varsity athlete, etc. Started a mentoring program for a local public elementary school and a new business club at his school. National award for a science competition.

Small private school. He took just about all the APs that the school offered and also 3 APs online via FLVS (Calc BC, Micro and Macroeconomics). 3 Years of Chinese as his foreign language.

Phenomenal. Congrats to you both.

I think 2-4ish B’s are fine. I think the most recent common data set has the average unweighted GPA as a 3.8

Thanks. But it wasn’t good enough to get into his first choice. I was disappointed for him, but am very happy with where he landed. He has used it as motivation…

@flprepaidmom My D had her final regular meeting with the IB coordinator this morning, for which I was able to join. Once we got to the college updates, I inquired about UF and if he had any recent insights or data. Come to find out that UF had an admissions rep at the school earlier in the year. He did say something that they can only admit 10% per high school, and rank was a factor. Now I know that rank has been a hot topic on here. And UF’s website says it’s not a factor. So I thought it worth mentioning.

I tend to agree with you though that admissions may be a bit more flexible this year because of the TO requirements and late submissions.

That makes me feel better. I feel so lucky that my daughter had her score early before the shut down. I’m hoping it helps her.
